Vesicle Series

In geology, a vesicle is a small cavity formed by expansion of a gas or vapor before the enclosing body solidified. These Vesicles explore negative spaces by removing material to leave only a thin framework of interconnected curves. These pieces are made from layers of cut paper, and provide a laboratory for exploring parametric patterns, color, and optical illusions.

Small Vesicles

A variety of patterns evolve through parametric relationships using mathematical spirals, voronoi cells, and attractors. This series is an exploration of color and pattern. These pieces are 8x8” or 11x14”, made with Canson acid free colored paper.
